Trivia
Scholars
note that redheads have influenced history out of proportion to their
numbers. Famous redheads include Roman emperor Nero, Helen of Troy,
Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Oliver Cromwell, Emily
Dickinson, Antonio Vivaldi, Thomas Jefferson, Vincent Van Gogh, Mark Twain,
James Joyce, Winston Churchill, Galileo, and King David. Did you
know that it rains diamonds on Uranus and Neptune? Recently scientists have
been able to recreate the extreme pressures that exist at the bottom of the
hydrocarbon-rich oceans of slush on these gas giants. Researchers
were able to produce this "diamond rain" using carbon polystyrene
and high-powered lasers. The diamonds are only nanometers in length, but the
experiment proves what the environmental extremes on these planets can
produce. But if it
'rains' diamonds on Uranus and Neptune, what do people there give each other
there for an engagement? |
My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Another nice fall day. Luckily, I
checked my calendar and remembered we had a Discussion Group last evening. There
were no readings. One of our members updated us on a climate change
presentation he did five years ago. Climate change continues to be an issue.
We have made some progress on electric vehicles, carbon emissions, and other
areas. We still must continue to make improvements to slow down climate
change. After 30 years, there are still no consequences for those who don’t
meet their own goals. It is up to the youngest generation to have the desire
to make these changes. Hoping for the best. 2021 has
shown a 15% decrease in the number of Santa Claus applicants across the US.
The main reason seems to be Covid concerns. It’s an
afternoon of football, Cards on TV, Broncos on internet. |
