My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Blue sky and
cool.
Yesterday
was too busy for a post.
I got a sad
early morning call, yesterday: Lori Eckhardt, Bob Eckhardt’s oldest, and
life-long family friend called to let me know her husband, Lynn Burnette, had
passed from a heart attack. They were together over 25 years and married for
the last 7. They met when Lori and her sister Lisa had a coffee shop in
Loveland. Lynn was just a few days from his 78th birthday. Lynn was
a good artist, a great storyteller, and an all around good guy. He will be
missed by many. Lori’s sister (Lisa) and daughter (Adrianna) are with her,
along with lots of Lynn’s family, at this difficult time.
I’m a big
fan of NPR and a sustaining member of our local station. One of my favorites is
Story Corps where friends talk about their friendship. I just learned
about a new initiative called ‘One Small Step’. The program brings two
strangers with differing political views, but many other things in common,
together for an hour-long discussion. I listened to a few and the things they
have in common also let them rationally discuss their differences. It is a
great idea and carried out well by NPR.
The Broncos
fired their coach after a 10-30 record in 3 seasons. Probably a good move.
