My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Another nice
winter day.
Did some
laundry and living room clean up.
MLK day is
today. I still remember when he was assassinated. Our family was having dinner
and after eating, we turned on the news in the living room. Shock for sure. I
was living in AZ when the Super Bowl was moved from AZ because this state didn’t
recognize MLK day as a holiday. Race relations have gotten better, but still
have a long ways to go.
Good to hear
that after an 11+ hour hostage takeover of a synagogue in Texas, all hostages
are safe. Sadly, the gunman is dead. I wish that negotiations had gone better
as this guy was in real need of mental health help.
I’m glad I’m
not in the middle of the storms of rain and snow across much of the country.
A school district
in upstate NY had to apologize for a homework assignment. Middle school students
in a Spanish class were asked to translate sentences into English. Here are two
of the ten: “You (friendly) are Mexican and ugly.”, “You (politely) are pretty
and American.” Inexcusable.
