My
Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
So far this
morning it has been clear, cloudy, snowing, and clear…all before noon.
My jury duty
update…at 2:30 yesterday I got an email saying that we didn’t have to meet
until 9am. Turns out another email came in at 4:45 yesterday that cancelled the
trial all together. I didn’t see that one until I was dressed and ready to head
out at 8:00 this morning. An interesting and possibly important news item was
also in my email…it seems a man in the jail committed suicide Monday night. I
won’t know if it is the same case until they release the suicide guy’s name. I
guessing…probably.
It was -26°F
during the downhill Olympic events. I was in that temperature when I was in South
Dakota. Note…the moisture in your nose freezes when you breathe in.
Remington
sold most of its holding after Sandy Hook. Now they have agreed to pay
$73million to the families of Sandy Hook. They were in court for ‘glamorizing’
their rifle as a symbol of manhood. While the settlement will not bring back
any of the kids and staff that were killed, it does seem better than ‘condolences
and prayers’, which is all the families had until this agreement.
There is a
lot of talk about a Federal Tax Holiday on the gas excise tax. If it happens it
will save us about 18¢ a gallon. It will not effect the state excise tax on gas…AZ
is 19¢ a gallon and CO is 22¢ a gallon.
