Daily Observations
My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Fire is
still burning. Containment still at 3%. Hoping they get better control today.
I was
watching a TV show where the term ‘apex predator’ was mentioned. I had to look
it up on the google machine. Very interesting results.
Guns have
become detrimental to our American Society. I get the hunter thing…in my much
younger days, I was a hunter. I get the 2nd Amendment thing to a point.
There must be a way to stop gun violence in our society. The year 2020 statistics
show the Children 1-19-years old had guns moving to the number one cause of
death. That was up 39% from 2019. There is technology out there to prevent many
of these needless deaths. It is too bad that Congress can’t do use science and technology
to pass laws that will help slow down these needless deaths.
I got a call
this morning from a distant cousin. She calls every so often. She is 90 and the
matriarch of the Webster clan, my mother’s family. I met her when we visited ‘the
ranch’ with my family in the 1960’s. She is still dancing every Sunday night,
has lunch with her two kids every week, and is enjoying her life. Sadly, another
cousin is in a care facility due to Alzheimer’s. Her youngest brother, Ronnie, who worked on
the ranch when I was there, is also showing early signs. Always good to hear
from Patty.

Trivia
o Only one U.S. president has been inside
the vault at Fort Knox.
o Fort Knox is one of the most secure
places in the United States, which is why it shouldn't shock anyone that
visitors aren't welcome at the guarded facility. However, it may surprise you
to learn that even our country's leaders aren't given permission to visit. In
fact, only one president - Franklin D. Roosevelt - has ever been inside the
vault; that was way back in 1943.
