My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

The heat and fire danger continue.

The Cherokee Tribe has officially asked for a name change of the highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains...The peak, ‘Kuwahi’, meaning Mulberry Place, has been a prayer site for healers for centuries.

Boris Johnson had his last meeting with Parliament and said ‘Hasta La Vista, Baby’ in true Boris fashion.

I see the Secret Service being a little too secretive over the text messages. They do work for the American people.

Our elections are way too costly. Now it seems, the Dems are backing very far-right candidates with FOR these candidates. It worked in Maryland and Illinois. The Trump backed candidate for Governor won. The plan is that the Democrat candidate can beat the far-right. I don’t want to rain on their parade, but this could backfire with serious results for the country.

I got a call from Andy and Faith. They are no longer in quarantine and tested negative. I’m doing lunch with them tomorrow.

Trivia

During World War II there were five pairs of U.S. carriers with the same name. All five ships had been sunk, and rebuilt to carry the same name. The Langley, The Lexington, The Yorktown, The Wasp, and The Hornet.

America's aircraft carriers are the largest in the world. The Nimitz class carriers have an overall length of 1,092 feet. The newest super carriers, the Gerald R. Ford class, have the same length, but carry about a 3,000 ton greater displacement than the Nimitz class.
