My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
A nice rain early
this morning…now just waiting for round 2 of the monsoon.
Gutsy final
play by Broncos but they still lost by 1 to the Seahawks. The Seahawks uniforms
reminded me of my 1970 Plymouth Road Runner…the manufacturer called the color ‘sassy
grassy green.’ The vehicle was my grandfather’s present for my upcoming graduation
from college. Good memories. He was far from wealthy and spent his life as a ground’s
keeper. He only had an 8th grade education.
Flagstaff
made a top 10 list...it is #10 of the cities with an ‘overvalued’ housing
market…at 51%. Not a surprise for those of us living here. The study says one
major reason is 2nd home buyers scooping up every available home.
Ukraine
looks like it is turning the tables on the Russian invasion of their country.
Putin really misread their moxy.

Random trivia…
Lefties
At various
times in history, left-handedness has been seen as many things: a nasty habit,
a mark of the devil, a sign of neurosis, rebellion, criminality, and homosexuality.
It has also been seen as a trait indicating creativity and musical abilities.
Between
10-12 percent of people on earth are "lefties." Women are more likely
to be right-handed than men by about 4 percentage points.
Tests
conducted by St. Lawrence University in New York found that there were more
left-handed people with IQs over 140 than right-handed people. Famous
left-handed intellectuals include Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Charles
Darwin, and Benjamin Franklin.
The word
left in English comes from the Anglo-Saxon word lyft, which means weak or
broken. The Oxford English Dictionary defines left-handed as meaning crippled,
defective, awkward, clumsy, inapt, characterized by underhanded dealings,
ambiguous, doubtful, questionable, ill-omened, inauspicious, and illegitimate.
Even the
word "dexterity" shows a right-handed bias. The term dexter means
"right" and refers to being "right-handed" on both sides.
Myth Buster
Bishops questioned women’s souls
This supposedly happened in 585 at the
Council of Macon in France, but no ecclesiastical assembly was held that year.
There is evidence, however, that a provincial synod took place in this town, in
586, during which the respective duties of the faithful and members of the
clergy were discussed. According to legend, a bishop declared that a woman
could no longer continue to be included under the term “man.” In fact, this
statement had more to do with grammatical issues than theological ideas. He
went on to propose that another term be found to describe women. Problems arose
when the statements at this meeting were misreported by a certain Gregory of
Tours.
