My
Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
The
storm has passed. Sunshine and very chilly. It will be cold through the
weekend. After closing yesterday, local schools are on a 2-hour delay. My area
got about a foot of snow yesterday. Thankfully, no snow in the 10-day forecast.

Gov.
Nikki Haley (R-SC) has announced a run from President. So far, she is calling
for a new generation of leadership. That is not a bad idea, but I’m not sure
she should be President.
The
Super Bowl ‘Jesus’ commercials cost $14 million to air during the Super Bowl. I’m
not sure He would see this a good use of money or would He help those in need?
Many
politicians seem to believe that books should be banned, abortions should be
banned, Black History should be banned, but they will not ban assault weapons. I
wonder why?
RIP
Raquel Welch. She passed at 82 today.

Facts…
Australia
Has 19 UNESCO World Heritage Sites
From natural
wonders to architectural masterpieces, Australia has an impressive 19
properties on UNESCO’s World Heritage List — more than either Greece or Turkey.
You may already be familiar with some of them, as several rank among the
country’s most popular tourist attractions, including the Sydney Opera House.
Visitors can also get a taste of Australia’s natural beauty at places such as
the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, and Fraser Island. They
can also catch a glimpse into the nation’s past as a penal colony at the
Australia Convict Sites.
Slang
Origins
1994: Alrighty then
Meaning: Okay
"Ace Ventura: Pet Detective"
was the movie that launched Jim Carrey from television actor to comedy
superstar. Carrey played yet another over-the-top character in this film, and
his catchphrase, “alrighty then,” immediately caught on with audiences. Carrey
also contributed quite a bit to the script, to great success.
Trivia…
The U.S. is the only developed country in
the world without a single legally required paid vacation day or holiday.
