My
Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Slowly warming up
to be a nice spring day.
Andy
& Faith are down in Phoenix, helping care for Andy’s brother. Today is
their trash day so I was out early…7:00am putting out their trash. I would have
done it late yesterday, but the wind was really blowing. It’s no big deal.
The
Paris protestors are becoming more irate and violent today. On a Focus trip we
rode down many of the same roads. I hate to see this happening.
Supreme
Court Justice Clarence Thomas is under scrutiny taking lavish trips in various
international destinations, paid for by a mega-donor to the Republican party.
All sounds a tad fishy. Awaiting a comment from Justice Thomas or his wife.
Enjoy…
Facts…
Pumpernickel
was originally a German insult that means "farting bastard."
More Slang
origins…
Have A Conniption
While some people get madder than a wet hen, those who have a conniption are on a different level. If you’re having a conniption, it means you’ve completely lost it. You’re hysterical, crazy, and off the rails. Scholars believe that conniption is linked to the word “corruption.” Southerners long ago may have likened these tantrums to being corrupted by the devil!
Beauty in
our 50 states…
The word that comes to mind
here is “imposing.” A brunch-menu version of Alaska, Montana offers big
Rockies, big lakes, distinct seasons, and two of
the most awe-inspiring national parks anywhere in the world: a section of Yellowstone at the south border,
and the broad
shoulders of Glacier at the top. The sky isn't any bigger here
than elsewhere; if anything, the mountainous contours at the edges give
definition to the surroundings. But what you do get is wide-open spaces, and
lots of 'em. This, America's third-largest state, is home to just 1 million
people compared to 38 million in California and 27 million in Texas. Splendor
abounds in Montana, and chances are you can have a huge slab of it to yourself.
