Today’s Thoughts

More rain today. Already had a light shower and a 15-minute rain shower. It has been decades since Flag has had this much moisture before the monsoon. Very nice! However; I have not had allergies like this in my many years in Arizona.

The concept of ‘International Waters’ has been around for decades. China and the US have been in disputes recently regarding the international waters near Taiwan and in the South China Sea. This seems to be heating up daily. I hope more stable minds win out.

Back in my youth we were warned, before entering Yellowstone, to watch out for bears, not get out of the car or roll down the windows when bears are nearby. Well, it is 2023 and now Yellowstone is reminding tourists to stay away from Bison. It seems in the past few years more tourists are being injured, sometimes severely, by bison in the park. Some for trying to ‘pet’ a wild bison.

Enjoy

History revisited

The Last Widow Of A Civil War Veteran Died In 2008

Maudie Hopkins married a Civil War veteran of the Confederate States Army named William M. Cantrell in 1934, when she was just 19 years old. Her husband was 86 at the time they were married, which she claims she agreed to because of her financial situation.

Hopkins passed away in 2008 at the age of 93 in Lexa, Arkansas, making her a Civil War Veteran's widow who was still alive when Barack Obama became the first African-American to serve as President of the United States.
