Today’s Thoughts

Thunder and Lightning…maybe a monsoon in a while. Flash Flood Warning listed for property below several previous fires.

Congrats to the Biden’s for acknowledging Hunter’s son as their grandchild. It IS a family matter, but 4+ years seems like a long time.

I watched the Ken Burns PBS program ‘Let the Circle Be Unbroken’. Certainly, worth watching a second time. The series is repeating on PBS as ‘Country Music’ on Friday nights.

I’ve been posting about our heat here at 7000’. I’m glad I’m not in ‘the valley’…Phoenix. They keep breaking records: 30 days over 110° and 17 days over 115° during this summer.

Enjoy

History you may not have learned in school…

The Tulsa Race Massacre left thousands of Black citizens homeless.

With over 800 injured and an immeasurable amount of deaths, the Tulsa race massacre of 1921 is considered the single worst incident of racial violence in American history by the Oklahoma Historical Society. The incident began when a 19-year old Black man was accused of assaulting a 17-year old white female in an elevator. A mob of more than 2,000 white residents gathered demanding justice for the supposed crime and began attacking Tulsa which was then known as the Black Wall Street of America.

Around 10,000 Black citizens were left homeless with $1.5 million in property and $750,000 in personal damage done. This vibrant and successful Black neighborhood was leveled within days leaving no trace of its progressive former self. The incident is rarely ever mentioned in schools across America.

Hoax proved wrong…

German R&B duo Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus, who performed as Milli Vanilli in the late 1980s and early '90s, achieved music industry infamy when it was revealed that they did not sing any of the vocals heard in their music releases. Their ruse unfolded during a live MTV performance when the pair were caught lip-syncing to the song 'Girl You Know It’s True.'

Random Trivia…
