Today’s Quote
Thoughts for the day
I’m ready for election day. Studied
and studied, now ready with all propositions. I’ve received 3 txt messages so
far today to remind me how important my vote is. All had my full address. A tad
creepy.
The wind is very chilly, but I had to
buy some groceries. I wore a heavy jacket and survived. I was not the only one
at the grocery with a heavy jacket. Most shoppers were seniors.
The Broncos fell to the Ravens; the
Cards beat the Bears.
I expected to deal with fake videos in
this election cycle…and I saw a few. What I didn’t expect were videos claiming
to be the FBI to post fake FBI videos. That seems as foolish as poking a bear. I
hope they are caught soon.
Myths
Myth #9: The Real Mickey Mouse
Illustrator
Get ready for a twist in the
beloved saga of Mickey Mouse’s creation. While the common narrative paints Walt
Disney as the lone artist behind the inception of the iconic mouse, the real
story is a far more collaborative affair. Enter Ub Iwerks, an animator whose
pivotal role in Mickey Mouse’s birth has long been eclipsed by Disney’s
towering legacy.
Those very first sketches of
Mickey? They bore the indelible mark of Ub’s artistic prowess, breathing life
into what would eventually evolve into a global sensation. While Disney
undoubtedly played a vital part in shaping Mickey’s character and catapulting
him to stardom, it was Iwerks who held the initial pencil, quietly crafting the
foundation.
Random Thoughts…
In the near future, most grandparents
will be way better at video games than their grandchildren due to sheer
experience.
A group of Horses is called a Team or Harras or Stable or Troop or Stud.
The concept of drinking 8 glasses of water daily comes from a 1945 NRC
Food & Nutrition Board recommendation, but it also explains we get that
much water just from eating food.
It’s pretty dumb that I get a new driver’s license every four years and it’s
made out of hard plastic and I’m supposed to have my social security card for
life and it’s made out of paper.
Ancient Roman Life
Being a chariot racer could
earn someone big bucks
Did you know that most chariot
racers were slaves? They didn’t want to quit the sport, however. It was
actually the exact opposite. Each racer would receive a share of winnings if
they were part of the victorious team. But that wasn’t all. It turned out that
chariot racing betting was also very popular in Rome.
Racers would often place bets
and walk away with big bucks at the end. What’s the twist? The best teams, the
red and white ones, were the most successful and, therefore, could afford the
best drivers.
