Thoughts for the day
A windy spring day.
Last night there was a small fire on Mt. Elden. I could see the small
fire from my residence. It was put down quickly and was less that 5 acres.
Thanks to all the firefighters who handled this event.
I have to learn more about Qatar. They have helped the US get back the
last American hostage…Dan Alexander….back to his parents. He spent 19 months as
a Hamas hostage.
They are a rich country and have offered to ‘donate’ a $700 million airplane
to Donald to use as Air Force One. Whenever his term ends the plane will be placed at his library. Even the
super-wealthy usually have a few strings. This is one of those things that
sounds too good to be true.
Trump will be leaving for the Arab world very soon.
Native American Tribes That Dominated History
Seminole© Britannica
The Seminole tribe emerged from a blend of various Native
American groups, including Creek refugees. Settling in Florida's challenging
terrain, they famously resisted U.S. military efforts to remove them.
Their knowledge of the swamps and forests was key to their
guerrilla tactics. Known for their leadership under figures like Osceola, the
Seminole displayed resilience in the face of adversity.
They never formally conceded in warfare against the United
States, marking them as one of the only tribes to do so. This legacy of
resistance and adaptation is a proud part of Seminole identity today.
Random Thoughts…
A group of owls is called a “Parliament of owls.”
The shortest performance to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor was Anthony Quinn’s eight-minute role as Gauguin in “Lust for Life”.
Squish – word invented by Mark Twain “To Squash something down.”
No other species is responsible for the loss of as many human lives each
year as mosquitoes
A group of Grouse is called a Pack or Covey.
Misunderstood History…
The “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” Wasn’t at Lexington and
Concord ©wikimedia
Skirmishes between colonists and British troops had been
happening for years. The famous phrase comes from a poem, not historical fact.
The revolution didn’t start with a single dramatic moment—it was a slow
buildup.
