Rambling Thoughts
Our discussion group was great last night. We all agreed that one of the areas not discussed in the article was ‘population explosion’. As more and more third world countries continue to have greater populations of unemployed under 25 year olds, problems will continue to escalate. Also lots of good information on the China/US symbiotic relationship. So nice to meet with people who have very diverse backgrounds and life stories to discuss interesting topics.I get that ‘breaking news’ sometimes interrupts programming on TV. CNN has recently been carrying the ‘breaking news’ thing way too far. This morning, when Snowden flew from Hong Kong to Moscow, the entire Sunday morning schedule was preempted by the ‘breaking news’. They were busy interviewing every Tom, Dick and Harry who worked for, had worked for, had a friend who worked for, or had a friend who had a friend who had worked for some part of the Federal Government. I was half listening and half expecting my phone to ring with CNN asking me what I thought. I am sure my comments would have been as newsworthy as some of the people they were interviewing. They did the same thing when James Gandolfini, ‘Tony Sorprano’, died suddenly. Yeah that too was a shocking story and leaning that he had died was certainly newsworthy, but three hours of ‘breaking news’ was way too much. They interviewed retired Larry King by phone since he had once interviewed the guy on his show, some 5 years ago. Larry hadn’t seen him in years and just rambled about what a great guy he was. When I turn to CNN I want news and commentary, not endless babble that has no new information for hours.

RADOMSKO, Poland - A drunken Polish dentist yanked the tooth of a patient who had come in for a crown, then barricaded himself in his office when police arrived, officials said. The patient in Radomsko was undergoing preparations for the crown when he became suspicious the dentist was drunk, Polskie Radio reported Wednesday. The dentist polished the patient's front teeth, and then gave him five jabs of anesthetic, Polskie Radio reported. "After a few minutes, the 28-year-old saw that his front tooth had landed in the bin, and at that moment he decided to protest," police spokesperson Aneta Komorowska said. The patient demanded his dental records, but the dentist, 50, banished the patient from the surgery room, Polskie Radio reported. When police were finally able to enter the dentist's office, they confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol, and blood tests have been taken to determine how drunk he was during the dental procedure, the radio station reported. Charges will be brought when medical experts determine the extent of the alleged damage to the patient, the radio station said.
