I took a nice walk around the compound when it had warmed up a little. Working on getting back to my 10K steps every day.

Words pronounced differently in the North and South States…

This mostly refers to the second syllable in the word, mainly how the 'a' sounds. Southerners pronounce the word so that the 'a' sound is long like the 'a' in the word 'father.' Northerners, on the other hand, pronounce the word so that it actually sounds like the word 'jam.'

There is a swirl of garbage in the Pacific Ocean, roughly the size of Texas. It's known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. While it's often described as "an island of garbage," the GPGP is more accurately seen as something like garbage soup: a massive portion of the ocean with a high concentration of plastics, sludge, and other debris.

It's disgusting. But no reason to despair! There are a number of wildly innovative and interesting proposals to clean up the patch. Here's hoping they work out!

Much warmer sunny day.

I went to PT this morning. I told her I was now able to climb stairs without having to grip the handrail and without stopping. If I did my exercise routine right before bed, I slept through the night. She marked off the exercises I should continue to do several times a day. She said if I had the pain or discomfort return, call her and she will start up visits again. Sounds good to me.

Today is Veterans Day. It originally started out as Armistice Day to mark the signing on 18 November 1918 to mark the end of WWI. In 1971 it moved due to the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. After an outcry from Veterans and others. The argument for the change was that the signing to end the war was so important, it had to be on the exact day…much like Independence Day and Christmas. In 1975, it returned to always be on 11 Nov unless that day was on the weekend, then it would be either Friday (for a Saturday the 11^th or Monday for Sunday the 11^th ) Also, the holiday this year was on Friday for Federal Employees and others who choose to observe the holiday.

They’re so rare that some Wyoming residents visit these escalators just for the novelty of it, with one of them describing it as “like riding a tilt-a-whirl, but only slower". Andy, Faith and I had a great lunch. Good food, good conversation, fun.

NBC did a good job at the debate last night…candidates got to speak. Interruptions were minimal, rebuttals were well controlled. Those who are watching should realize, they probably won’t be on the Republican ticket until 2028. None are there to be a VP.

Screen Guild Actors announce agreement on salary and AI restrictions. It is down to the final member approval after a 100 day strike.
