Today’s Thoughts

The train derailment has been cleaned up. Trains are running through Flag again. I was out shopping and every crossing had trains going both ways down the track, at the same time. Took a little longer to get where I was going. Exits on I-40 are being worked on at 3 of the 4 ways to get into Flag. Had to take major streets to get to the other side of town, then work my back to the stores I needed.

Andy called this morning and was hinting about doing lunch but I told him I was still staying indoors. Faith is healing well.

I’ve been in our discussion group for about 10 years. Tonight I am missing my first group meeting since joining. I don’t want anyone to get whatever it is that I have.

Today’s Thoughts

On this day in 1939, my parents were married. They had a long and wonderful life together. Still missing them both.

Canadian wildfires still causing problems. I hope they are under control before my next Focus Trip.

Wednesday night a train derailed near Williams, about 20 miles from Flagstaff. Twenty-seven freight cars derailed, closing all E-W and W-E traffic on the rail line. Awaiting NTSB reason for this derailment. So far no injuries.

The latest indictments have been unsealed. I wonder how Trump will get out of his latest mess? I wonder how much longer his victim card is going to be useful to him and to his followers?

The Brooklyn Bridge Was Under Construction During The Battle Of Little Bighorn

Otherwise known as "Custer's Last Stand," the Battle of Little Bighorn took place in 1876, and was fought between the Native American forces including the Northern Cheyenne, Lakota, and Arapaho tribes against the United States Army. That same year, the Brooklyn Bridge, the world's first steel-wire suspension bridge, was under construction.

Today’s Thoughts

Sunshine with a little smoke. Good day. No moisture expected.

On Tuesday I went to my PCP about my allergies. I was sent to the emergency room for breathing treatments as my O2 level was low. I spent the night in an ER room getting O2 treatments. All good, I have a rhino virus, very common, not usually this severe. Home and enjoying myself now. Still a little congested but taking pills for that. I’m going to miss our discussion group on Saturday. I don’t want to infect anybody.

I’m sure glad that the Canadian wildfires aren’t near me. I really shouldn’t complain about our smoke, compared to what NYC and other areas are suffering. In all my time here since retirement I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t see the nearby mountain for more than an hour or two from smoke. The cities like NY are experiencing their second day.

Cleopatra Was Born Closer To The Television Series Friends Than The Great Pyramids Of Giza

Cleopatra was born in 69 BC and was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. After being defeated by Octavian at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC, Cleopatra and her lover took their own lives in 30 BC, which was a little more than 2,000 years ago.

The Pyramids of Giza were completed in 2560 BC, making them more than 2,500 years older than Cleopatra. So, in the grand scheme of things, Cleopatra was alive closer to the premiere of Friends in 1994 than the Pyramids of Giza that she once ruled over.

The iPhone Was Released The Same Year As The Final Harry Potter Novel

The Harry Potter series began back in 1997 with the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling. The seventh and final installment in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was finally released on July 21, 2007.

However, this wasn't the only major cultural phenomenon to occur that year. Almost exactly a month before, on June 29, 2007, Apple unveiled the iPhone, the first smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc.

Today’s Thoughts

Nice warm spring day.

I decided to visit the Dr. about my allergies…too many days of a runny nose. Hopefully the Dr. can fix whatever it is.

Over the weekend, at least 6 rental houseboats caught fire at Wahweap Marina, Lake Powell, AZ. No cause yet. Strange for sure.

A dam collapsed in Ukraine. Russia says Ukraine did it, Ukraine said Russia did it. It puts lots of people in danger from flooding and the water from the lake is used in cooling a nuclear plant. Thousands have been evacuated.

History revisited

The Stegasaurus Is Ancient Compared To T. Rex

Although they were both dinosaurs, the Stegosaurus is ancient in comparison to the Tyrannosaurs rex, by millions of years. The Stegosaurus roamed the Earth during the late Jurassic Period, which was around 156 million and 144 million years ago.

The Tyrannosaurus rex, on the other hand, lived during the Cretaceous period, around 67 to 65 million years ago. So, technically, the T. rex actually lived closer in time to humans than it did to the Stegosaurus.

Today’s Thoughts

Already had one light rain this morning.

I had a follow-up to my last eye exam. All good. Now if these darn allergies would lighten up.

The daily rains play havoc on a clean vehicle. Through the night my vehicle is coated with pollen, when the light rain comes, it beads up yellow on the hood, then evaporates, leaving lots of small yellow circles on the hood. Crazy. As I was driving back from the eye appointment, I was going to run it through the car wash. As I was waiting at the light before the car wash, droplets of rain started, so I just drove home. No serious complaints about the rain as all this moisture seems to suggest that our decades-old drought may be over. Yeah!
