True Things
Two men have been arrested on
suspicion of conning an unnamed doctor in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh
into paying $41,600 for an "Aladdin's lamp" that the sellers promised
would bring him "wealth, health and good fortune." The two con
artists even conspired to conjure a genie from the lamp, which turned out to be
one of the men, to convince the doctor of its authenticity, the BBC reported.
According to local police, the con men had duped other families in the same
way.

My Rambling Thoughts
Cold night and chilly day. The wind makes a walk out of the question.
Plenty to do around the house, so no big deal.
What’s the deal…way to many politicians (local and National) are closing
down a variety of businesses (restaurants, gyms, bars, travel) and then the politicians
are caught on camera doing the opposite of their declaration. I was taught that what is good for the goose
is good for the gander. Some of the politicians go so far as to say that they
were tricked.
I am excited that the vaccine is coming soon and that the CDC guidelines
on who should get it are out. My concern is that CDC guidelines are only that…guidelines.
The state gets to decide what to do, and in the past few months, it is obvious
that most states don’t follow the guidelines. Hoping for the best.
The Flagstaff City Council has passed an Affordable Housing Crisis
resolution. Right now, our housing costs are 34% higher than the National
Average and wages are much lower than the National Average. For decades we have
had the moniker: Poverty with a View. The resolution lays out a 10-year plan to
improve affordable housing availability. I have heard this many times before, but this
may actually get somewhere.

1997 – 121 countries signed the treaty prohibiting the manufacture and
deployment of anti-personnel land mines in Ottawa, Canada. Notable exceptions
were: The United States, the People’s Republic of China, and Russia.
1999 – The Mars Polar Lander crashed into the Martian surface.
