My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Growing older make Dr. regular appointments more frequent. I had my quarterly eye exam…all good.

Broncos did not have a good day yesterday…Cards are now 4-0.

The oil spill in CA just keeps getting worse. This is so disturbing for the wildlife as well as the beach goers. 126,000 gallons of crude oil is now part of the ocean biosphere. The more I read, the more it sounds preventable.

Facebook’s whistleblower sure laid out some frightening information on 60 Minutes last night. I hardly ever post, and usually click like or LOL. I never get involved in posts that make me angry…I just scroll on by. That prevents their algorithm from sending me crap I don’t need to see. Then today, Facebook, Messenger, What’s Ap, and Instagram aren’t working. I wonder if the two events are connected?

Tony Bennett is 95 and suffers from Alzheimer’s. That all disappears when he hears music. Fascinating.

I get angioedema (swollen lip) every few months. Last night it came after I went to bed. I didn’t get up and take a pill, so I was still a tad swollen when I got up, but it was normal by the time I went to the eye doc. Nice.

Historical Events

1877 – Chiff Joseph surrendered to US Cavalry Forces. He famously stated: “From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever.”

2001 – Barry Bonds hit Home Runs #71 & 72, beating Mark McGuire’s prior record. He went on the hit 73 for the season and is still the current record.

2015 Governor of California Jerry Brown signs a bill giving terminally ill patients the "right to die"

Birthdays Today

@57 – Chester A. Arthur, 21st President of the United States (d. 1886; stroke)

@81 – Ray Kroc (d. 1984)

64 – Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist, cosmologist, and author

46 – Kate Winslet, actor
