My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Already getting
warnings about flash flooding in the burn areas this afternoon. Sounds like a
fairly large storm in on the way.
Serena Williams
is retiring from tennis at 40 with 2+ decades of leading in tennis. She has
changed the sport and will be missed. Enjoy your family.
Albuquerque
has arrested a suspect in the killing of 4 Muslim men. Looks like it is Shia/Shite
dispute.
Ten ships
and 45 aircraft from China are encircling Taiwan in international water. Bluster
for sure.
When the US
left Afghanistan, one year ago today, that we promised to help those who had
helped us. As of today, 85,000 have been resettled here, and 70,000 are still
waiting in Afghanistan.
Arizona is
one of eleven states that has more colleges than prisons. Finally, my adopted state
is on a good list…even though it is a very questionable list.
New Zealand
may change its name to Aotearoa, the name it was called before the Dutch
arrived. A very good move for the indigenous people of the land. It actually means
North Island and there is no one name for the two islands.

One Hit Wonders
Napoleon XIV:
'They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!'
This novelty
record was a nonsensical and fun hit by Napoleon XIV who was actually just one
man using a pseudonym. Jerry Samuels came up with the song during his time at
New York’s Associated Recording Studios. The song featured a snare drum, a
tambourine, and a siren that would go off as Samuels’ voice rose to a fever
pitch during the chorus.
