My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
I went out
this morning to pick up some essentials. Just as I pulled into the parking lot,
the first rainstorm hit. I parked fairly close and made a mad dash to the
store. When I came out about 20 minutes later, the rain had stopped. Good day.
Our
discussion group meets tomorrow night to discuss Putin’s Russia. It should be a
good discussion, but I’ve got some reading to do before the meeting.
A recent scientific
study suggests that there might be some good outcomes for using ‘magic mushrooms’,
with psylocibin [a psychedelic], to help alcohol addicts break their addiction.
That could be good news for many. While they did not list any lasting side effects,
it was either it works, or it doesn’t do anything.
The redacted
warrant has been issued. All the news channels are spending lots of time to
tell us what is and not there. Some are happy, some…not so much. I’m going to
wait for more results before I decide my mood.

One Hit Wonders
"Stuck in the Middle With You,"
Stealers Wheel (1973)
In all
fairness to Stealers Wheel, the band did have another song in the top 30 of the
Billboard Hot 100 ("Star" from 1973). However, Gerry Rafferty and Co.
will always be lauded for this classic that reached No. 6 on the Hot 100 and
still has a home on whatever version of classic rock radio remains in the U.S.
Of course, fans of director Quentin Tarantino will forever associate the song
for its use during the infamous torture scene in his 1992 cult classic
Reservoir Dogs.
