Today’s Thoughts
Very
few clouds, guess the weather guy was right, monsoon on a break.
While
I was out and about, I got my car washed. Taking advantage of the monthly deal.
Super
typhoon Mawar is heading for Guam. There may be 157mph winds and 25’ waves. It’s
exact path isn’t know yet.
Ash
from Popocatépetl volcano, which is in a central part of Mexico, has delayed
flights in Mexico City and led authorities to close schools in dozens of municipalities.
There are 25 million people living in a 60-mile radius of the volcano.
Only
in AZ. Kari Lake lost the election. She just lost her final trial to prove that
she won the election. Almost immediately after that announcement, the Republican
leader of the Senate declared that AZ counties could no longer use any machines
to count votes in all elections. He was quickly
reminded that his declaration did not have the rule of law behind it and was
just issued to confuse voters.

Ocean Trivia
The Vampire squid gets
its name not because it has a taste for blood but from the dark skin on its
arms that makes it look like it’s wearing a Dracula-esque cape.
Origins of State Names
Pennsylvania
While Pennsylvania played a key role in helping
to achieve American independence, its name has less to do with its political
history and more with the state’s lush greenery. The Province of Pennsylvania —
a name meaning “Penn’s Woods” — was inspired by the surname of its founder,
William Penn, and also by the new province's forests, sylva (or
“forest trees”). Penn envisioned a “a green country town” that encouraged
religious freedom, which in turn led to Pennsylvania becoming one of the most culturally diverse among the 13
original colonies.
