Today’s Thoughts
It
looks like the monsoon is returning. Getting cloudier every hour. Monsoon expected
this afternoon through the weekend.
Faith,
Andy and I had lunch today. Good conversation, good food.
I
have heard from all my Florida friends.
All are safe and not in any danger.
Many
school districts are having problems finding bus drivers. Here in Flagstaff, it
has gotten so bad that the district is combining routes, leading to earlier
pick up times and later drop off times. Pay is one issue as drivers only work
and get paid on days they drive, no pay in summer, no pay if school is not held
for an in-service day or snow day.
The
Proud Boys leader was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Sounds right.

Unique National Treasures for the US …
Blueberry
Pie
In 2011 Maine named blueberry pie (made with wild Maine
blueberries, of course) as the official state dessert, a well-deserved
designation as 98 percent of the lowbush blueberries harvested in the U.S. hail
from Maine.
Other states jump into the delicious mix claiming the highbush
blueberry as state fruit (New Jersey) and the blueberry variety as state muffin
(Minnesota).
But there’s nothing like a hot, crusty, all-American filled
blueberry pie ready to be topped with vanilla ice cream.
Random Trivia…
Winston Churchill typically smoked
eight to ten cigars a day, sometimes as much as fifteen. During the American
prohibition, he would get a doctor’s note saying he needed to drink
“indefinite” amounts of alcohol when he would come and visit the states.
