My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Lots of light rain last night. Still in a flood advisory. Rain started about 2pm. A hard male storm that quickly became a light rain with thunder and lightning. Power knocked out for about 10 minutes.

Our discussion group meets tomorrow evening. We will be discussing Biden’s Foreign Policy. Should be a good discussion.

Years ago, I was able to visit Taiwan with Focus Travel Club. Taiwan is back in the news.  My memories include a beautiful scenery, great people, fantastic food. I must admit I got a tad tired of the Lazy Susan’s at every meal, including breakfast. I am deeply sorry to see the political posturing that is going on…the people of Taiwan do not need or deserve the current climate.

For my entire life the US has sent men…and now women…overseas to fight our enemies. Very disappointed that the Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would have helped our wounded warriors. The no votes should be headlines across the country.

The current Saudi sponsored golf tournament is opening deep wounds of our country. The National ‘We will not forget’ seems to have fallen on deaf ears when it comes to making money. This country is certainly divided.

My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Storms and therefore flooding continues. Hoping for the best for the area.

Flagstaff watersheds in burn areas are now saturated and even only negligible rain leads to flooding below the burn areas. It is turning into a destructive monsoon season.

The rez area around Tuba also got heavy rains and more are expected today thru Saturday. Many dirt roads are washed out. School starts next week and road crews from BIA, Tuba Chapter, Navajo Nation, and ADOT are working to get the roads repaired before school buses have to haul children.

Gun manufacturers made $1billion over the past decade selling assault rifles. No wonder they have little incentive to make these guns less deadly.

Now that Biden in testing negative, we should celebrate to giant steps in controlling COVID. Much better than a few years ago.

Russians may be open to a trade: a female b-ball player with drugs in her luggage and a Canadian with American citizenship convicted of spying for the Russian ‘Merchant of Death’.  A tough call for sure.

Interesting: Hulu Streaming, a Disney company, will not run political ads on sensitive issues: abortion, climate change, gun laws; but will allow non-sensitive issues: taxes and education.

My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another stormy monsoon day. Not complaining. Just hope flooding is held to a minimum. Also there is lots of thunder and lightning.

Biden tested negative this morning…I guess all boosters work.

The International Space Station is a joint venture between the US and Russia. Russia has decided that due to sanctions, it will not renew the contract. NASA says they will find other partners.

Marjorie Taylor Green has suggested that the Republican Party should change its name to the ‘Christian Nationalist Party’.  That is very frightening.

With its background harmonica and fun lyrics, “Hey! Baby,” it was no wonder that the song appealed to audiences in 1961. Musician Delbert McClinton toured with singer Bruce Channel and even gave a young John Lennon, who was just starting out with the Beatles, some harmonica tips.
